SENIOR CONSULTANTS
RICHARD L. BUSH, Senior Consultant for Counsel Consulting Group,
has more than twenty-five years of experience in assisting companies
of all sizes in their efforts to avoid employment practices claims.
For twelve years, Mr. Bush served as corporate labor/employment
counsel for a Fortune 500 company, and then as a senior executive
with another company, where he maintained responsibility for, among
other things, overseeing risk management and litigation of literally
thousands of employee claims. Most recently, Mr. Bush has worked
as an attorney for national and international law firms, defending
companies of all sizes against employment-related claims, including,
for instance, the defense of claims asserting sexual, race, age,
disability and other harassment, retaliation and employment discrimination
claims, wrongful termination, whistleblower, wage and hour, and numerous
other employment tort and contract actions arising under Title VII
of the Civil Rights Act, the ADA, FMLA, OSHA, FLSA, NLRB, WARN, ADEA
and numerous state anti-discrimination laws, both in federal and
state courts and before numerous administrative agencies. Mr. Bush
also has special expertise in prosecuting and defending against violations
of non-compete agreements, restrictive covenants and trade secret
matters. In addition, Mr. Bush is the principal author of Pennsylvania
Act 57, the most sweeping legislative reform of workers' compensation
in more than 60 years.
In addition to his work at CCG, Mr. Bush is currently affiliated
with the regional law firm of Powell Trachtman Logan Carrle & Lombardo,
P.C., where he continues to defend companies against a wide variety
of employment practices claims and proceedings.
Mr. Bush was named one of Pennsylvania’s Super Lawyers for
2004, and only one of 82 Labor and Employment lawyers so recognized
throughout the state. Only the top five percent of Pennsylvania lawyers
have received this distinction, which is based on a survey that was
conducted among 34,000 attorneys throughout Pennsylvania who had
personally observed their peers in action.
Mr. Bush has trained executives and employees in a variety of companies
on a wide range of employment law, HR, labor relations and benefits
matters, ranging from sexual and other workplace harassment prevention,
how to conduct effective workplace investigations, compliance under
ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA, the ADA, FMLA, OSHA and state workers' compensation
laws.
In addition, Mr. Bush is a frequent speaker on a wide range of employment
law, HR, labor relations and benefits topics for employer groups
and professional associations. He has been featured in various risk
management and HR publications, including the Society for Human
Resources Management’s HR website and Employment Benefits
News.
Mr. Bush received his bachelors degree from Pennsylvania State University,
he received his law degree from Widener University School of Law,
and he earned a Masters degree in Labor Law from Temple University
School of Law. He is licensed to practice in federal and state courts
in Pennsylvania and Connecticut and various other federal trial and
appellate courts.
